Sometimes I think leftists are just fearful people who think a powerful government will make all the things they are afraid of stop. (But some are just power mad fascists.)
There’s a little more to it. There are studies showing that qualities such as attractiveness, physical strength, and testosterone levels are associated with more conservative politics.
This, I think, gets at the root of the problem, which is that Leftism is a politics of resentment.
"Hey, that’s what liberals are! Ideology? Economics? Social justice? Those are nothing but their prom outfits. Their politics were set for life in the schoolyard at age six. They were the weak, and forever after they resented the strong. That’s why so many journalists are liberals!"
Not so long ago, the left was like a father defending his children against wolves. I am talking about the 6 year old children who were mutilated in weaving mills or died in coal mines; I am talking about the time when workers died at 40 while their owners lived to 80 - is that time really over?...
But for a few decades, the left has become like a mother who hands out candy to all the children on the street, then tells her children that she does not have enough money for them... and the right says: if you are rich enough, your children will have candy, if you are not, too bad for you...
Seen from a European perspective (it may be different in the United States): choosing between the right and the left is choosing between the plague and cholera...
I suspect that you and I have different ideas about what "left" and "right" mean in the context of government and politics, which is the result at least in part of a difference in the American and European history and sensibilities.
You may not agree with much that I say here, and I respect that. I know from your Substack that you're a rational intelligent person and I am glad and flattered you take the time to stop in here and see what Rightful Freedom is doing.
I hope I deserve your appreciation ;-) Be assured that I value your writings and share probably most of what you say.
My comment intended more to express my disillusionment about -probably specifically- European politicians who are just puppets. Seems to me that D. Trump wouldnt'be so easy to manipulate !
And I'm also convinced that compassion for the weakest is also valued by "right people" - by different means than public "programs" which I agree are mostly "dust in the eyes".

I vote for "power mad fascists"

Yes, I have to agree.

Anyway, I appreciate the dialogue !!
Being right is highly overrated. To me I’d rather be happy. Just saying.
It's right to be happy!
Anyone on the left hates God...
