Wow, wish I would have seen this when it was fresh - crazy busy this time of year. Flattered that I've been quoted!

Interesting stuff about the Imperial Purple gang, had not heard of them previously.

This is what it looks like when the blue-blood country club set paint themselves red, I guess.

> Probably less than a fourth of the money that government regulators spent went for what Americans believe that they are paying for.

So what is the government actually paying for? I notice you didn't answer the question (much of what its paying for is entitlements like social security, medicare, etc.).

You're right. Most of us do get back at least some of the social security and medicare tax. The whole subject of what the government takes from us and what it does with the money is, obviously, immensely complicated. Two examples:

The government takes a lot in hidden taxes. A car is taxed at multiple points in its manufacture. It is likely that a $35,000 car would cost, if there were no such thing as taxes, something less than $30,000. That $5,000 is a hidden tax. The government regulators have lots of them.

The federal government is borrowing a lot of money. Someone is supposed to pay that back someday. And the only people who can are taxpayers. To decrease the deficit and pay back the debt, in future years the government regulators will have take much more in taxes than they spend or give back. And we are talking about tens of $trillions.

There is a lot to say about this subject, but I am convinced we are being robbed. Anyway, I genuinely appreciate your interest and comments, Eugene. I hope you will stick around to discuss these issues and others!
