Why Did Kamala’s Popularity Offensive Surprise Us?
Is it real? Will she beat Trump? Can she really meme?
For a second there, after Biden dropped out, we believed Trump was sure to win. That was because we knew that Kamala Harris was an unpopular idiot, an especially dim Dem, who finished last in a weak primary field in 2020. But the polls and the public’s image of Kamala seemed to change almost instantaneously, as she went from zero to 160 in popularity, erasing Trump's lead literally overnight.
What happened? And why didn’t we see it coming?
(If you already know all about the massive Kamala-hagiography-offensive, and whether she can really meme, you might want to jump to “Conclusion: Why is Important!”)
How Kamala Harris put the “hag” in Hagiography
On July 29th, the meteoric rise in popularity of someone whose persona was already well known to the public had left the right, shaking its head. “Will the Media Makeover of Harris Work?” the American Spectator wondered aloud.
“Border Czar? Something about a ‘Border Czar’? I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
The avalanche of fawning media stories. The whiffle-ball questions asked by “journalists”. Suddenly Kamala was brilliant, witty, energetic beyond belief. Her accomplishments were legendary. No, mythical! It was amazing. She was brat! She could even meme!
Goodbye funny meme, hello Coconut “meme”
Their control of the media allows the leftists to change the meanings of words. To literally control the language. They do it all the time, as we have written about and will write about more. It's the left’s superpower. They can make words mean whatever they want them to mean. They reversed the meaning of the word “liberal”. The word “progressive”. The word “democracy”. And lots and lots of others.
In their super-maxed out effort to promote Kamala as the goddess of America, the leftist-controlled mass media did many, many things. One was to change the meaning of the word meme, so that Kamala could become the “meme queen”. Etymologically, the word meme was adapted from the sociobiological term “mneme” by anti-sociobiologist Richard Dawkins, who used “meme” to mean a piece of mind virus. Then “meme” came to refer to a genre of internet joke, an image grabbed from a movie or something, and given a funny two-part caption in Impact font.
The day after Harris replaced Biden, the leftist mass media changed the meaning of “meme” to something like a quip. More like a tweet than a real meme. “You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?” So, if the left in general and Kamala Harris in particular can’t really meme, they can change what “meme” means to something leftists can do: Make moronic tweet-quips.
We can’t show examples of Kamala-Coconut “memes” because almost none of the millions of repetitions of it were real memes. The media made them “memes” by changing the definition of the word meme, to try to make Kamala cool.
The leftists used their control of the mass media to do this. Don't like democracy? Change “our democracy” to mean: “Rule by leftists.” Real memes aren't Kamala’s friends? Change what “memes” means.
We googled “kamala harris memes” on July 29, 2024, and what we got were a leftist media person holding a picture of a meme, and then page after page of fawning mass media images of her.
One More Question:
How could we write a Substack about Kamala Harris and memes without including some Kamala Harris memes? Answer: We can't.
Conclusion: Why This is Important!
Kamala Harris didn’t make her own abrasive cackling self suddenly shine like a super nova in the night-sky of the public mind. No, the leftist mass media did it. We the right always underestimate the immense power of the mass media, to our disastrous detriment. And we have to stop doing that.
Although many reading this may disagree, we here at Rightful Freedom intend to keep making the argument that by far the biggest single reason why the leftists are able to install their cultural Marxist agenda and keep beating us mostly is one thing: They control the mass media, and they know how to use it to beat us.
The leftists could not achieve the successes that they do if they did not have control of the mass media.
If that’s true (and it is), then fixing that might be the first step toward turning the tables on the leftists. And to do that we would need to understand how the mass media got this control. We may think we know how the mass media works and how the leftists use it, but maybe we don’t. But we need to.
Because this moment in history — when the left has taken control of so many of our institutions and seems to threaten to install totalitarianism in our country — leftism itself may be at its moment of greatest vulnerability. 2025 may be the end of America as we know it, the year of The Eschaton, Tree of Woe’s
Or the fulfillment of the CassandraMax Prophecy. But in 2025 there may come a moment when we, the right people, can turn the tables and grab victory from the jaws of defeat.
History gives some evidence for hope. But that is another story, too long for one Substack. Stay tuned.

Kamala is a meme waiting to happen...
Even if one does not fully embrace Trump, the Harris machine is beyond belief. Your essay shows who it is so easy for the "machine" to fabricate a "reality" for the dopey Pavlovian masses to believe it.
