Who Won the War?
U.S. government regulators said that they were waging war, spending American wealth and American lives to turn unfree countries into nations with representative governments with elections, and free market economies, and individual rights. Meanwhile, our government regulators took away our representative government, our free market economy, and our individual rights.
The target of the Patriot Act was us. Government loves wars that cannot be won and cannot be lost — War on Poverty; War on Drugs; War on Terror — because in the end the government regulators win them all. And the American public loses them. They told us they were giving freedom to the unfree. They didn't, and they took ours.
